History of World Photography Day
World Photography Day, celebrated on August 19th worldwide, has a fascinating history dating back to 1837 when Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce introduced the revolutionary ‘Daguerreotype,’ marking the birth of the first photographic process. This innovative technique quickly gained popularity, replacing time-consuming hand-painted images with accurate representations of faces and scenes. Photo studios started emerging across the globe as photography gained more popularity. On August 19, 1839, the French Government acquired the patent, opening doors for people worldwide to participate and immerse themselves in photography.
