Profile
Is your home address visible somewhere on the Internet, even if it doesn’t show up on a Google search? Is your email address lurking somewhere on the dark web? Have you been receiving robocalls and odd text messages from people you don’t know? Even if you didn’t post your private or identifying information online, it could still end up there due to various methods, both legal and illegal.
To take control of your data, join Ayoola White, the library’s Emerging Technology Librarian, for an “Opt-Out” workshop. This workshop will cover how to remove your identifying information from background check websites, how to manage your privacy settings on social media platforms, and even how to delete your social media accounts if you so choose.
This event is part of Choose Privacy Week. This event is meant to offer general advice and should not be taken as legal counsel.
