NJCU COVID GUIDELINES
Anyone who comes to any NJCU facility must wear a multilayer face covering, regardless of whether the person has been vaccinated for COVID-19. The mask must cover both the nose and mouth. The following are exceptions:
- When a vaccinated student is inside a campus residence hall, unvaccinated students with exemptions must mask in campus housing except while in their assigned room.
- When an employee is alone in their personal office or workspace.
- When an individual is eating or drinking.
University community members must wear masks in all classrooms and in meeting rooms, in residence hall common areas, and at any indoor events, regardless of the size of any of those spaces. There is no social distancing provision for masking. However, you must wear a mask indoors even if you are alone in an area.
Masks must be worn at all times inside University vehicles, including buses and shuttles.
A limited number of exceptions may be permitted, including allowing performers on stage and intercollegiate athletes engaging in sports activities to remove their masks. Such exemptions will be based on established best practices and approved by the Presidential Advisory Committee.
All individuals on campus are permitted to remove their masks while eating or drinking, but only when they can maintain at least 6 feet of distance. They must replace their masks upon completion of the meal or beverage.
Masks are required outdoors in crowded settings or when participating in outdoor activities that involve close contact with other people.
The University will not impose capacity limits at this time on indoor or outdoor gatherings. That said, we urge everyone to wear a mask when walking around the campus vicinity. The University will monitor infection rates closely and take additional precautions or remove restrictions as public health conditions warrant.
Let’s all help keep NJCU safe!
