Gengis Don – drummer, producer, song writer, engineer and bandleader – combines his deep knowledge of Hip Hop and his study of jazz/improvisational music to create the music of The Empire. Gengis Don & the Empire are More Sound Music Residency artists, and this concert is presented as part of the More Sound Music Residency, a co-production of SMUSH Gallery and After School Activities.
Keenyn Omari is a New York City based multi-instrumentalist and producer. Born in Miami, Keenyn displayed an affinity to towards music at an early age, picking up the piano and then soon teaching himself how to produce and program beats on an Xbox. Over time, music would play an off and on role in his life until later in high school the decision was made to become a musician, shortly after teaching himself guitar, flute, and his main instrument the saxophone. Since moving to New York City in October 2014, he has played alongside many different bands and artists as well working on his own material releasing 67 beat tapes with many more on the way.
